Weekly Dev Log for September 8th, 2020

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for September 8th, 2020, detailing all the changes that have happened since August 31st, 2020. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

Update 0.11.0.0 and Hotfix 0.11.0.1

Last week, we released Update 0.11.0.0, which introduced Workshop Condos, a feature that allows you to upload your condo to Steam Workshop for other users to download and explore. We also released Hotfix 0.11.0.1 to fix some issues found in the initial Update 0.11.0.0 release. You can read more about Update 0.11.0.0 here, and Hotfix 0.11.0.1 here.

Update 0.11.1.0

After this release, we quickly started working on Update 0.11.1.0, which will contain a number of bug fixes, improved condo load times, and the new Desertion virus map overhaul. You can read more about Update 0.11.1.0 here.

September 2020 Condo Contest

We’re running another Condo Contest this month! This month’s theme is a tiny-potion build. Make a tiny room, house, or secret area that is only accessible by using a tiny potion. Other than that, you can theme this build however you want, so have fun with it! First place wins 1,000,000 units. Contest ends 3PM PST on September 15th, 2020. Read more here.

Co-op Condos

@macdguy continued working on Co-op condos, which will allow authorized users to help build a condo with the host’s items. He worked on upgrading the inventory system to support displaying any inventory (which is required so that condo guests can see the host’s items). He also started working on the system to network the host’s inventory to the other players. He also worked on the permissions system, as well as some fixes for some bugs and annoyances that come up with building in condos.

Condo Item Snapping

@Madmijk continued working on condo item snapping, finishing the application of the actors to the building block items, and now focusing on adding them to the modular furniture and canvas primitives.

@Lifeless finished the Desertion art pass. He then started working on the Accelerate map, “Waterfall”, formerly known as “Wishy Washy”.

@macdguy worked on some fixes for Update 0.11.0.0 and improved the edit and color UI.

@Sketchman fixed a bunch of collision issues with the House condo, replaced some collisions on trees with capsule collisions, continued the clean up on the weapon system, fixed several issues with the undo/redo system, added canvas data and scale tool to the undo/redo system, disabled the undo/redo notifications if nothing actually happened, fixed some issues with the edit UI, looked into the “Transaction Failed” issue on the AGC, implemented some potential fixes for crashes related to Workshop and fixed an issue with Condo Permissions.
