Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for October 12th, 2020, detailing all the changes that have happened since October 5th, 2020. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

Priority Survey - October 2020

Since the Arcade has been released, this survey is all about prioritizing the order of upcoming updates. While we have our own internal goals and direction we want to take the game next, we would love to hear your thoughts on what priority you think we should move in!

Halloween 2020 Update

Work continues on the Halloween 2020 update, which will bring back the Halloween Plaza, various Halloween Events, and items.

@Johanna finished upgrading the Plaza to the Halloween Plaza, which will also include the new Lighthouse / Kalleira’s Store, the new By the Sea Shore store, and the new Lighthouse Peninsula. She also upgraded the Halloween Plaza from last year’s event, adding more decorations and ambiance.

@joshua continued working on pets, items, and masks for the Halloween 2020 update.

@macdguy continued working on implementing the Halloween Events and adding some Halloween themed items.

Upgraded Weapon Effects

@Johanna spent some time doing an art pass across the many weapon effects in the game, making them more visually appealing, while also adding bullet decals for each of the bullet types and a framework for proper hit effect sounds on wood, metal, glass, flesh, etc.

Miscellany

@Johanna worked on a little art pass on Typing Derby.

@Lifeless continued working on the Accelerate map, “Waterfall”, and added gameplay features to the second track of the Accelerate map, “Pine Valley”.

@macdguy created a new season switcher to help with future seasonal lobby changed and squashed some bugs.

@Madmijk fixed some other canvas items being offset, and continued working on fixing bugs with the drag slots and the item visualizer.

@Sketchman looked into bugs, continued cleaning up the weapon system code, updated the Grenade Launcher on Zombie Massacre to shoot the grenade where you want it to be, and continued looking into Minigolf Sync issues.

@Wheezwer worked on a new background for Typing Derby.

@Will continued working on music for the Accelerate map, “Waterfall”.

Condo: New Item Rotation Settings

Zombie Massacre: Grenade Launcher Projectile Path

The grenade launcher in Zombie Massacre now shows the path the grenade will take and where it will land, allowing better control over the grenade. We hope to bring this to other weapons soon.

The fact we’re still getting Virus polish makes me so happy. This game mode has come a long way, and the map remasters are incredible!
