Weekly Dev Log for December 14th, 2020

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for December 14th, 2020, detailing all the changes that have happened since December 7th, 2020. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

Update 0.13.1.0 (Karaoke Rooms)

Work continues on the next update to Tower Unite, Update 0.13.1.0. Snow has fallen with this update, as the Winter Plaza and Holiday Events return.

This update will also contain Karaoke Rooms, which are rent-able private nightclub rooms you can reserve for you and your friends, along with improved Voice Chat quality (11kHz to 32kHz).

This update will also include bug fixes and new features, which you can read about here.

Accessibility Suggestions

We’ve created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, and possible solutions on how to solve a particular issue, please check out the forum post here.

December 2020 Condo Contest

This month, we’re running a winter / festivity theme condo contest! This contest runs through the entire month of December, ending on December 31st. First place winner takes home 1,000,000 units, and participants may be rewarded 75,000 units!

You can read more about the contests, as well as the rules here.

Miscellany

@JJosh continued working on the Pizza NPC for the Arcade.

@Lifeless continued working on the Virus map, “Theme Park”.

@macdguy worked on finishing the Karaoke room booking system. He updated the Snowball Battle minigame to be about throwing snowballs (with better physics and collision) instead of shooting, and worked on a new Gingerbread Smash plaza minigame. He added streamer quick settings, and re-organized the settings menu to make it a bit simpler for newer players, while the more advanced options are in an advanced toggle. He added a camera mode (F5) which when enabled will remove all HUD elements for taking videos and photos to all games.

@Madmijk worked on trying to resolve Soundcloud sync issues with the Nightclub. He also worked on a new condo “Transformer” tool, which will allow for the quick application of translation, scale, and rotation to individual items.

@Sketchman continued working on crash fixes, solving issues with the original static mesh workshop model code, and worked on Steam badges.

@Wheezwer continued working on Steam Trading Cards and Steam Emotes. She also continued working on the concept art for the new Oasis store NPC.

@Will continued working on store specific music, specifically Oasis and the Fishing Bait shop.

It would be cool to have an option that duplicates the prop and applies the transformation to the copy, for extremely quick tiled building
