Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for August 10th, 2020, detailing all the changes that have happened since August 3rd, 2020. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

August 2020 Condo Contest

Update 0.10.3.0

Work continues on getting Update 0.10.3.0 ready for release, we’re hoping to release it sometime this week. As mentioned last week, this update will contain the new map “Sunrise Isles” for Accelerate, Leaderboards and Achievements for Accelerate, Server Travel, updates to the Plaza, along with many other fixes and changes. You can read about everything slated for this update here.

Accelerate Progress

@Caboose700 added the achievements for Accelerate to the Steam Backend.

@Johanna continued working on Track 2 of Sunrise Isles.

@macdguy upgraded the item system for Accelerate to reduce the amount of lag when using items. He also implemented the achievements and leaderboards, worked on a kill feed, and started working on preliminary mutator support, working on a “mirror mode”.

@Sketchman finished the achievement icons for Accelerate.

@Will finished the music for Sunrise Isles.

@Johanna completed all of her changes for Lobby 3: Phase 2.

Miscellany

@Caboose700 helped test the update, built lighting for a bunch of maps that required it, and looked into optimization issues.

@joshua continued working on the model for one of the Arcade NPCs.

@Lifeless started working on an art pass for the virus map, “Desertion”.

@macdguy reworked some virus posters.

@Madmijk continued working on the snapping system for items.

@Sketchman helped rework some virus posters and looked into optimizations to reduce networking load.

@Wheezwer worked on concept art for the new Oasis along with concept art for the Oasis NPC. She also started working on language for tutorials.

Desertion has been needing an art pass for a long time, I’m so glad it’s finally happening! Hopefully the bunk bed prop gets a makeover too.
The flat topped rocks are a huge improvement too

i read that and thought that meant if a trivia/bowling/laser tag game was starting in one server you could travel to that server but i dont really see how that could work

Thanks for giving the pool area a more cartoony look. It didn’t need to be realistic and this new update will surely improve it A LOT.

Just commenting that the antibiotics poster is incorrect, as they only work on bacterial infections. Maybe swap it out for “germs” instead.

I’m honestly really mixed on the new plaza look. I don’t mind that it’s cartoony, I think I just preferred the older shades of green used :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, it still looks good and I’m sure I’ll get used to it as I play. Everything else in the devlog looks awesome too, especially Desertion and the new gameworld ports.

Server Travel is a feature for Game Worlds. At the end of a game, instead of kicking all the players either back to the Main Menu or back to the Plaza, all the players in the server can vote for a new map, and once the vote is completed, everyone in that server will travel to the next map automatically.

The desertion art pass looks great! I remember playing on it a few days ago and hoping it would get redone.
