Weekly Dev Log for April 5th, 2022

Hello everyone, and welcome to the Weekly Dev Log for April 5th, 2022, detailing all the changes that have happened since March 28th, 2022. Note: Devs that don’t appear in the weekly log are not necessarily away or not doing work, but may be working on things currently not announced or backend work that doesn’t need to be detailed.

Accessibility Suggestions

We’ve created a forum post asking the community for suggestions on how we can improve gameplay for players with certain conditions such as colorblindness, dyslexia, or anything else that might affect a players ability to use the standard presentation and controls of the game.

If you have any ideas or suggestions, and possible solutions on how to solve a particular issue, please check out the forum post here.

March / April 2022 Condo Contest (IN PROGRESS)

Hey everyone!

This month’s contest is another structure building contest!

As always, feel free to interpret that how you see fit. There is no theme, so you can build any kind of building you want and have fun with it!

Also, feel free to expand on preexisting Condos! Want to add another floor to the default Condo, build a shed in the backyard of the House Condo, or have other additions in mind? Go for it!

The deadline to submit entries is April 10th, 2022 at 11:59 PM CT.

You can read the rules here.

Update 0.15.1.0

We’re currently working on Update 0.15.1.0, which will bring numerous optimizations and the new Zombie Massacre map, Acrophobia.

You can view the planned fixes and changes here.

Condo: Mediaplayer Playlist Support

@macdguy worked on adding playlist support to mediaplayers.

Saving a playlist will save all queued and playing vidoes in the mediaplayer and will keep looping the saved playlist.

The playlist is saved to condo data, so condos (and workshop condos) can save media playlists to media players.

When first used, the mediaplayer will automatically queue up and play the videos on the playlist.

WOOOOO

For real though–I’ve been eyeing these up on the spreadsheet–some of them look hella hype.

Wait, theres a new ZM map? Were images ever shown recently? Ive been outdated on Devlogs recently. Was there a devlog recently that showed it?

I remember in a old version of tower, probably around gmod days, there was support for mp4 or hosted files in the players, I’ve tried a few years ago but support wasn’t there, is that in the works (its been a while since i’ve attempted it so maybe I missed it).

Yeah, it’s been shown in a few devlogs, like in the last one iirc (okay, the last one it’s like barely visible, what I was thinking of was from the patron channel in the discord)

I have been working on my off time to add webm/mp4 support.

Woo, no more storing the media URLs on notebooks. Thank you.

Mediaplayer Playlist Support is huge! Love that it loops the playlist, I know a lot of people use a dedicated media player to set an ambience by looping background music and such.
