I’ve spent the past month or so (maybe a bit less) remaking The Pit (a PVP Battle map for GMT) in Smooth Dirt. It’s done now, and I think I’ve done a good job at making it look pretty close to the original.
I didn’t actually use any workshop items for this (aside from the skybox), and I tried use as little non-default canvas textures as possible, but I ended up putting in a few textures from TF2/HL2 anyway.
I came back to this recently to add custom spawn points to it, but decided I also wanted it to look more accurate to the original map, so that’s what I’ve been doing for the past week. It’s not 100% perfect (especially the lighting) but it’s like 95% perfect and I think that’s good enough.
