Summer Characters dole out free Workshop Furnitures way too frequently, which has an impact on player creativity.
Players are way more likely to use the free Workshop Furnitures leading to public condos having several hundred workshop models to load; thus having a significant performance impact.
So in light of this, increase the price on Workshop Furnitures and have Summer Characters gift Canvas Primitives instead.
I voted on this post two years ago and I wish I could vote again. The amount of workshop items new players have is too damn high.

No thanks. Workshop Furniture is there to ADD player creativity, not take away from it. Just because people use it, doesn’t mean it hurts anyone or harms the game. It is just another way to be creative with what you have - Some people just choose to limit themselves to the built-in selection of Tower’s items and props, which, to be fair, does require you to work with them more, yeah, but again, that does NOT hurt anyone. The only part of this I can agree with is performance, but I think you should be aware that removing this from prize pool of the summer characters wouldn’t change much. People who want to have hundreds of Workshop items in their Condos would still do it, it would just cost them actual units to spend and therefore decrease the amount of people that do it a little bit. This has 9 votes for no reason, sorry to say.

If this is only in regards to the count of Workshop items being available being too high then yes - If it is in regards to players using too many of them in Condos then no - Optimization exists but it is HORRIBLE from developers when it comes to this. And yes, I’m aware that Workshop model and texture complexity also heavily impacts performance that you get.

tbh I’ve lost count of the number of people who complain of bad performance all while they have several hundred workshop items loaded, and this has included people with workshop item counts easily pushing the 1k mark, my opinion is that if anyone needs that many workshop items then they are clearly doing something wrong, something very wrong, and I make a point not to revisit public condos where the workshop use exceeds >100 items
Workshop uploads are hit and miss in terms of quality, ranging from retro to ultra realistic, have scuffed origins/pivot points so that their initial placement is off and they don’t scale or rotate uniformly, can’t easily be selected unless you noclip and click in an oddly specific place, or they fail to load entirely because the uploader either deleted them or set them as hidden, and it is well known that the performance loss from the overuse of workshop can quickly snowball and black hole
I wouldn’t be so bothered if workshop uploads fit within the look and feel with the rest of the game, and I wouldn’t be so bothered if we had more in the way of variety of what we could buy from the stores, and there are numerous props/decorations that could very easily be ported over from the official Game World maps and certain areas of the Plaza (including, but not limited to; the industrial consoles/control panels in Virus-Corrosion, the vintage wall lamps in the Casino Lounge, the vintage lamps in the manor foyer of Dark Voyage, etc.), if the devs just spent an afternoon or even maybe a dev cycle doing just that, it would be great
PS. I think 9 upvotes is warranted for good reason

I know I’m cherry picking your comment, which I’m sorry for, but this is unfortunately not a simple process.
Models made for maps or the Plaza aren’t setup for use in Condos immediately. To port them over we have to (at minimum) per item:
- Add polygons to any place the model does not have have it
- Setup the item for editing in condos, which includes…
- Add coloring support
- Which includes adding a color mask, possibly splitting up the materials/textures in the model to add additional colors for coloring separate parts of the model, possibly remodeling parts of it
- Add any interaction support
- Add any additional IO support
- Add any additional item properties
- Add the model to the condo item system (setup an Actor for it)
- Ensure the model is rotated and centered properly
- Define, price, and add a description
- Create a thumbnail
It takes a lot longer than just copy pasting it into an item. Granted, over the years we’ve improved the process and automated what we can, but it’s still a lot of work. That doesn’t even include testing them.
@Nuclearxpotato actively adds in models from various places of the game, but it is a process that takes a bit of time.
As for Workshop items, yes, you’re going to have varying degrees of quality. I wouldn’t write them all out though, there’s plenty of great workshop creators who optimize their models and ensure they have proper origins.

Oh don’t get me wrong, Nuclearxpotato does great work on creating new models and importing existing ones, and it’s something he absolutely shines at

Idk man my pc definitely doesn’t like joining condos with a lot of workshop.
Is that why every condo with a shitload of workshop looks exactly the same?
Yeah, it would decrease it a bit. Thats exactly why goowose suggested it.
