Item Suggestions Megathread

Here’s a compilation of light items that I’ve wanted for a while. I tried to keep this limited to mostly fundamental/basic stuff that I think would see a lot of use.

Speaking of fundamental/basic stuff, the industrial caged lights and the posable/shaded lamps shown in last week’s dev log are really nice. Thank you devs for adding those :)

Floor / Table

''Modern'' Metal Lanterns

A clean, modern-ish lantern would be very nice, ideally with 3 variants (just the lantern, w/ base, & w/ wall mount). This is kind of the last ‘major’ type of lantern that the game is missing, I think.

Additionally, a simple wooden lantern to stuff candles into would be nice, although not as important to have in my opinion.

High Mast / Stadium Light

Tall arrays of lights that can illuminate a huge area. Would be nice for urban builds.

Flashlight, Glowstick

Flashlights would be nice to have for clutter.

Flashlight

On the topic of clutter, a placeable version of the equippable glowstick item would be really nice, especially if it was a physics item that could be thrown around.

Torches

Considering these were literally just added a couple months ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if placeable versions were already planned, but placeable versions of the ragged torch and ornate torch would be very good.

Wall

Two-Sided Wall Light

You can kinda do this with two placeable lights with the ‘Cone’ IES style, although that requires having two lights overlapping which isn’t the best for performance, especially if you want to have a bunch of lights like this in your condo.

It’d be great if there was a new IES style to allow for creating this effect with just one light source, along with a new item that takes advantage of it with a few basic variants (examples pictured below).

Basic Wall Lights

It’d be nice if there was an item with a collection of basic, modern-ish square and cylindrical lights, sort of similar to the Industrial Caged Light item.

These wouldn’t be terribly difficult to make with canvases, but having them as pre-made items would just be pretty convenient (and could reduce item count pretty significantly if you’re planning to have a lot of them in a build).

Billboard Spotlight

A light that curves inward to illuminate a sign.

There’s a light like this used in the Plaza’s theater.

Wall Dock Lamp

A version of the Dock Lamp item that can be placed on walls. There’s a light like this used for the bait shop on the boardwalk.

Wall Candelabra

Like a candelabra but if it was on a wall.

Ceiling

Fluorescent Ceiling Lights

There’s a couple types of fluorescent lights used in the game that’d be really useful to have as items (in the Condo Hub and Corrosion/Decommission, respectively).

Not used in the game (as far as I’m aware) is a thin fluorescent light with a metal frame, which would be great for industrial builds. The ‘Ceiling Light’ item is kinda similar, but honestly it just looks really crusty.

Ceiling Fan w/ Light

Ceiling fans in general could use a couple extra variations (there’s just one, currently).

Misc

Loose Lightbulb

There’s a lightbulb on a string, but there’s not just a single lightbulb, not attached to anything. Would be nice for clutter or weird contraptions.

Updates for Existing Items

A few light items have gotten model/material updates over time which haven’t been brought over to their condo versions.

  • Chandelier (translucent glass, visible bulbs)
  • Antique Wall Light (translucent glass)
  • Contemporary Wall Light (Slightly dimmer on edges, more detailed metal frame)

There’s also a few lights that are great as-is, but are horribly overpriced:

  • Spot Light (10,000 Units)
  • Spotlight Stand (14,000 Units)
  • Light Panel (8,000 Units)
  • Light Panel Stand (12,000 Units)
