[OUTDATED] The Tower Unite Private Alpha Download

As is Galactic Civilizations 3. There is definitely no 32bit requirement on Steam.

Well I do certainly hope that the Tower Unite devs DO put a 32 Bit exe on Steam, even if it isn’t required. It’s silly for people in 2015 to be running JUST 32 Bit OS’s, but there are still people out there…and personally I think that decision is kind of stupid of Steam NOT to force 32 Bit versions. I mean seriously, I cannot think of one application I have ever gone to download, that was 64 Bit only…

##But 32bits is less than 64.

Haha right, but with how ā€œlow-specā€ some of these people on Greenlight and the fourms systems’ are, I’d make the case that a handful of them are probably only 32 bits…and you wouldn’t want to limit it for anyone.

Unless of course, Tower Unite has to use more than (depending on the implementation 2,3.5, or 4 GB) of ram, and if that’s the cause, I’d think we’d all be curious about what it’s doing that needs all that RAM.

Edit Side Note: I don’t actually think the Jaguar was ā€œ64 Bitā€ā€¦It’s GPU was 32 Bit and it’s CPU was 32 Bit…and I’m pretty sure (I’m not the Computer Degree Holder like you are Zak  but I’m no dummy) that it doesn’t work like that.

HAH! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
No I don’t have a computer degree yet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also from what I understand, the Jaguar had a 32-bit processor for things like game logic. A 64-bit processor for video operations and a 64-bit processor for logic operations.

The bits don’t really translate to speed in this case, it just means that you can perform operations on larger numbers.
64-bit processors have 64-bit registers for holding and performing instructions on temporary values.

This is useful for addressing RAM, because you can have more physical addresses.

Which was completely useless back then because RAM was fucking expensive.

Im so sad im never gonna get the serial key, neither the game. I thought at first that i could test out the alpha for free, but NOPE. Im always denied. Fuck my life.

Sob stories aren’t going to get you anywhere, kid. Go mow some lawns or something if you want an alpah key.

Why? Do you expect people to give you a key? No offense, but most people here work for what they get. They aren’t just given free stuff because they have a sob story. Now I suggest you either work, and buy the key, or don’t complain. I’m sorry if I come across as harsh, but people who do that annoy the shit out of me.

By that i ment that i should have donated to ingie gogo, also idk why i posted this. i forgot.

Sorry if I misinterpreted you, but, i’m pretty sure ā€˜Im always denied’ means something a tad different

Well it’s not too late. There’s still 17 days left.

Will this auto-update itself?

No. The next Alpha will be on Steam and then it will presumably update itself.

Cool, thanks pally.

32 bit will be on steam alpha, I just asked Mac in an email. No need to worry :smile_cat:

Apparently I was mistaken. We tried to get 32-bit working, so I was under the impression it was happening. It turns out that Unreal 4 Tower Unite is just incompatible with 32-bit sadly.

I apologize for giving you the wrong informstion, I was unaware of the status of the 32-bit version.

Sadly, this means Tower will only run on 64-bit computers until further notice.

I could have sworn there was a build configuration for 32 bit processes? Unreal Engine 4 seems to be able to export them. Unless something you guys are doing with Tower Unite breaks that process.

I believe only the Editor is tied to being 64 Bit.

I honestly wouldn’t know why it’s incompatible at the moment, so I’ll have to talk more with Zak before announcing 32-bit again. He told me it wasn’t ready or possible.

Zak is at a family event right now, by the way.

Edit: Zak mentioned that 32-bit compatibility is something that will be a lot harder for us as our tools and external software (like the arcade API) would also have to be compatible. It would also limit our memory footprint.

Ah alright then. I knew there must have been a feature that would have made it very difficult. I was more for the mindset of, if you CAN do it, you should do it. But if you CAN’T / It’d be really difficult, I see nothing wrong with the 64-Bit limit.

Oh yeahhhh
