Markdown support for Text objects

As the title says, I would like Markdown support for items that can contain text such as Readable Books and Notebooks.

Primarily I need this for Headings, Bullet Points, Italics & Bold, and Horizontal Rules. But I can see people wanting and using the entirety of Markdown’s functionality.
