So a bit of a re-hash of “Item Finder Improvements” post by CarbonCopyCat, which did have most of its suggested features added to the game in September of 2020.
Can we get or will ever see the ability to create folders within the Item List? Currently there is no way to cleanly sort the Item List to make it easy to find exactly what you want for a specific room or setup without manually clicking through every object or renaming every object in your condo like I have in the below image.
Folders (and sub-folders) would clean up much of the condo building and customization workflow. Especially when there are many items in a room.
I also believe the intentions of Umbra’s comment “being able to color code the items in that menu would be nice.” probably meant coloring the background of the object to make it easy to pick out, through a manual color selection menu, separate from what color the object actually is. Below is a quick mockup made in PaintDotNet. Would be great if it also was applicable to folders.
Finally there is an odd delay and a lot of bugginess with renaming objects while the Item Finder is open. Often times the Item List will fail to display the updated name of an object for many minutes. There are also cases like in PluckTheDragon’s post, “Why Condo I/O Give me Anxiety”, they comment a common issue with renaming an object to a similar name with different case (“not2” to “NOT2”) and how the name change does not save; Assumably because the comparison for if the name was changed is not case sensitive, where it makes sense that it should be.
