Working Around Imgur's Dumbass System (PC/Desktop)

ADD IMAGES DIRECTLY INTO EXISTING IMGUR ALBUM

Long term Imgur users know that their new system is ass. Currently, you have to make “new posts” and then if you want the image in a different album, you have to manually move it to that album. The problem is, at around 5 pages of images, albums start fucking that up and not adding images to them properly, or even dumping existing images out of it.

I have now developed a work-around for this, allowing you to add new images DIRECTLY into an existing album via drag & drop like if you were making a brand new post. All you need is the original gallery link you are provided when you first make a “post” (album) on Imgur.

Step 1: Prepare a Notepad

You’ll need a permanent place to save information for each album you can copy paste later.

Step 2-A: Obtain Gallery Link (New Album)

The gallery link is provided to you in a convenient fashion ONCE, and only once.
This is the easiest way to get it, so make sure you copy that to your notepad.

Step 2-B: Obtain Gallery Link (Existing Gallery)

A little trickier, as the website doesn’t show you the album link in the browser

Open your main Imgur page (where you see all Images), then select the album drop down. Right click the album you want the link for and select “Inspect”.

This will open the inspection window, and SHOULD default to the line below (if not, you have to find it).

As you can see, the line directly above the highlighted line says “album-SxCUbew”. This is where you get the gallery ID for each album. It will always be “album-[album ID]”. Note: This is CASE SENSITIVE.

Step 3: Save the ID for Later

Put the ID in an album link in your notepad.
Example: “Example Album: https://imgur.com/a/SxCUbew

Step 4: Copy Paste Links When You Need To Add Images

Now, you can copy a link from your notepad and paste it into your browser. It will open that album (provided the album still exists) directly into upload mode again like the first time you created it, and you can add files to it.

Happy uploading!

is there really any reason at all to use imgur over drive or dropbox?

Imgur is currently blocked in the UK which means I would be forced to connect via a VPN to see anything
