I love to explore the amazing creations that people do in their condo’s, but I am more frequently noticing strange (to me) condo entry requirements at the door.
I have no problem with the classic “wait here 'till everything loads” room because that makes sense to me, what does cause me confusion and frustration is the “Rules list with obscure instructions to enter hidden throughout” style.
I understand that people like to include rules, but honestly even this confuses the hell out of me because TU has all the rules built-in with its own disclaimers and all the admin controls available, not to mention that this is a community game where player-to-player interaction is the focus, why cant host just talk to people? For example; “hey please don’t turn off the lights” or just disable light switch interaction.
I have NEVER see anyone’s personal ‘rules’ to be any different from the default ones or what is considered being polite, AND the host has the option to kick and ban people, so why the need for everyone to read redundant text?
The obscure or hidden methods to actually enter the condo annoy me also. Are they included to make sure people read the rules? I speed read, and often miss little details like numbers in weird locations because I read through all the rules too fast, yes, this is my problem I admit but it is frustrating.
I got kicked from someones condo the other day because I asked how to open the door after I read the rules but missed the hint.
This is a my personal opinion and I am not telling anyone to change their preferences in any way, I just wanted to express my thoughts and to ask why do so many people do this?
I would also like to add, the rules already being in tower’s guidelines doesn’t mean people follow or read them at all, I noticed a lot of the rather unfriendly players skipping condos that directly told them that they aren’t welcome there. Also depending on the popularity of the condo and the availabilty of the host it is entirely possible that they can’t keep up with telling everyone to not do xyz or kick them in time
People are welcome to do anything that makes 'em feel safe or whatever, but it’s very silly to me because I just imagine the non-existent vagabond who tirelessly enters and dejectedly departs every condo after reading their rules.
“Damn, yet another place that doesn’t allow rudeness, harassment or bigotry. Better take my leave. ”
What some people don’t realize is those buffer rooms are designed to stall you while the map loads. Pretty sure that’s why they got started for the most part.
Totally agree. Clear rules are fine, but hiding entry steps or making people hunt for clues just kills the vibe. A quick explanation or using built-in controls would be way more welcoming than kicking someone for missing a tiny detail.
