I know they’re a planned feature, but not a priority. Honestly, though, I’d be much more likely to play (and therefore test) the multiplayer if I had a ranked server to start playing on, or at least a way to host my own ranked server.

Early Access, most likely. There’s currently no point of having ranked servers, since alpha’s not going to have the information saved (infinite units, no units from gamemodes, etc.).
^ That. The alpha stage is all about working out the worst of the kinks and creating a base level of playability.
