Voting system for Minigames

user shadow1w2 posted this on discord and i figured this could make out on the forums

basically we’re complaining sometimes about having too much of either booze bash or balloon shooting or the target practice, and some people haven’t noticed that chainsaw battle is in the game, it seems pretty rare.

idk, i thought it would be a cool idea for a tiny voting system for the queue.

I’m totally for this.

That shadow1w2 guy is kinda nutty but the idea looks better now that you brought it up.

Maybe with a little voting booth next to the score board. Either a simple yes or no to encourage more rates of upcoming game or a complex list to scroll through and add “want” votes to encourage more rotation for oarticular games.
Maybe spend a little in game money to add more encouragement.
Perhaps more a players plays other mini games together and stands next to the mini game area the more influence they can build to a fair limit.
Woukd need some limits though as I’d worry about abuse.
Though the less effort (devs been super busy already) the better so maybe a way simplify a solution more.

edit: @Lauty forgot to tell you thanks for posting

How would you abuse such a system?

I think he means voting for the same game repeatedly. It wouldn’t take many people to have a server constantly do the same minigame over and over again with no variation. Someone could even get a few friends and vote for games they don’t like and not do them, doing it just so other people can’t do the other minigames. I don’t think that would happen much, though, if at all.

I think this is a great idea, would be very cool to see added.

This can be simply fixed, by disabling the minigame for a round or so after it has been played.

This would be limited though since the original post mentions cool downs, so there would have to be a break in the same minigame, and even then, you’d still be able to join a separate server.

Cool downs or not I think it’s just best to assume it could be abused and look at the solution from that angle.
Who knows maybe the minimal effort solution woukd work fine on its own.
Kind of depends on the community.

Personally I just like the idea of a groupnof friends coming in to play a specific mini game might stick around and try others in order to encourage that specific game to show up more while they are there. Building a better random rate for that group and giving them influence as long as they stick around and participate in other games so they dont get under used or ignored.
Rewarding consistant participation with the desired game.
Maybe thats over complicating a solution.
Perhaps just voting on a select game and seeing if it randomly gets picked with a slight vote influence would be enough.
As long as the RNG stays stable.
