A update to Typing Derby migrating from random words to complete sentences.

API

  • Add Paragraph
  • Edit Paragraph
  • Delete Paragraph
  • JSON API
  • Deploy on Live Site

Typing Derby

  • Replace Random Word code with API Call
  • Delete helper code required for Random Words.
  • Change finish condition from a static variable to a non-static one, to allow for paragraphs that vary in length.
  • Adjust horse movement code to compensate for variable paragraph length.
  • Improved WPM calculation
  • Update User Interface for easier typing experience when typing a paragraph.

Content

  • Obtain Paragraphs from Project Gutenberg.

Paragraphs usually contain more than one sentence.
I don’t think that there even is a ~100 word sentence out there in the world.

I assume the database of paragraphs will be like OpenTDB where anyone can contribute paragraphs?

They’re being pulled from Project Gutenberg. They pull from actual books and writing, so I don’t think we can really contribute paragraphs to it.
