Tower Unite original soundtrack

I bought the Tower Unite soundtrack back at the beginning of 2018. Since then, I have grown frustrated with the abysmal lack of updates it receives in comparison to the number of new tracks added over the years since it released. That’s not to say it hasn’t updated, of course. I am fairly certain it must have updated a few times since its initial release to Steam as tracks like “Prism” were not around back in 2016 when it came out. However, these updates seemingly take months - if not years - for the soundtrack to get brought up to date.

This wasn’t a big deal in the past. It isn’t too much money - nearing £5 - and the game promises enough to be worth the further financial support. Especially since I bought the game when it first hit the Steam store in April of 2016. Back then, the game was only $15. Considering the attitudes of the development team and the game it was aiming to be, $15 simply didn’t seem enough and I gladly handed over my spare change to buy the soundtrack.

But things do change and Pixeltail have begun needing more financial support to get more of the game out. I do understand that stuff like this does happen - running an online community and getting a massive game like this out certainly isn’t cheap. Especially when it was aimed to be fully released back in 2018 - 6 whole years ago.

But therein lies my issue with it. The support. I was willing to give more money to support the game and what I received was a product that has been seemingly abandoned. I really don’t think it’s right for Pixeltail to beg for more money and support when the support given in the past has been met with a subpar product. Why should I give my money to help this game when my attempts in the past have been nothing but disappointing?

It’s not that the missing tracks is a huge inconvenience to me - don’t get me wrong. I am complaining because this game is getting more expensive and more reliant on support but the fact is, when I did give further support to the game, I was left with an unfinished product - likely emblematic of the entire game itself.

The negative reviews on the steam page for the soundtrack DLC also complain about the missing tracks and suggest supporting the artist’s Bandcamp instead. But if this is better, then why put the soundtrack on the store at all? Why give the option for the community to buy the OST through Steam when they have no intention on updating it regularly and they would rather you purchase it through other means? It all just feels a bit scammy to me.

Maybe they could rename Soundtrack as CD 1? So when they decide to add more tracks to a pack then have CD 2 and so on to buy?

I don’t know how much the composer gets it but I do want to support both the devs and the composer in one go. That’s the only reason I bought the soundtrack on Steam.

Not sure it’s a bad idea to do more CDs on Steam. I’m thinking out loud.
I might have to look up Bandcamp.

It’s not that I expect it to fit within CD limitations or whatever. I paid for the soundtrack and what I got was like less than half the tracks in the game

Fair enough

Last I heard, they had said that it’s pretty difficult to update soundtracks on Steam. I think they have to go through extra steps through Valve in comparison to updating the regular game. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong, I’m going off of pure memory. I just remember it was talked about how it was difficult to update the Steam version of the OST.

I’ve discussed updating the soundtrack with Will and he’s working on getting the Steam soundtrack more up to date.

The Steam soundtrack hasn’t been updated in awhile, but we have always planned to update it when we go 1.0 for no charge.

It is harder for Will to update the Steam soundtrack than the other services, as Steam’s update process is very difficult and their tagging system is very out of date.

Will hasn’t finished some of the missing tracks yet for the soundtrack and wants to polish them up still.
