Tower Unite Event Survey + Feedback

On a more unofficial standpoint and out of curiosity with hearing from the community, I decided to create a survey to discuss all kinds of events (Bonus Events, Community-Hosted, and Real-Life combined). I’m looking to hear some feedback on this so that way any suggestions for Bonus Events can be cross-referenced in a mega post on @wheezwer’s Bonus Event Suggestions Megathread.

Give as much feedback as you can, as this survey will close on 2024-05-26T04:00:00Z sharp.

As I asked in the survey, what are your thoughts on map-specific Bonus Events? Should there be more of them? Should there be less of them? Are there specific themes and maps you have in mind? Contribute your thoughts here on the PixelTail Forums thread for this survey.

Alrighty Tower Unite gamers! The survey is now closed, and it’s time to take a look at the results!

Over the course of 30 days, we got 17 responses. Not bad considering the level of promotion that was done for it. However, it is a smaller sample size, and I’d like to see if these trends would remain the same with a larger sample size. Let’s go over a bit of the results

Tower Unite Event Survey Results

In this survey, we asked about three types of events found within Tower Unite and its community: In-Game Events (Bonus Events), Community Events, and Real-Life Events in that order.

Bonus Events

All 17 people filled out the survey have heard of Bonus Events before and participated in them in some capacity.

Weekend & Mid-Week Events

NOTE: I didn’t include Ball Race Weekend out of a pure error, so it’s possible that these results are skewed the way they are due to a small oversight.

Regardless if it’s a weekend or not, it appears the Double Ticket and Fishing events are the most popular by a long shot. I’m pretty sure the popularity of the Ticket events mostly comes from not just the Wowozela but also the building potential of the items found within the arcade. Likewise, the fishing EXP is an added bonus to also getting rarer fish, which can be really helpful for condo builders as well.

Beyond those events, Luck of the Irish is up there as one of the most popular events yet also being one of the most infrequent events. Perhaps this means we can see more casino events in the future that aren’t holiday related.

In terms of mid-week events though, it seems Ball Race is the next most popular events—even on the map-specific ones. Simultaneously, Virus is less popular on a mid-week map-specific event, so it may be better to only include Virus mid-week events during the times where the weekends are a bit cluttered with other favored events instead.

General Bonus Events

Graphs

NOTE: I didn’t include the Double Fishing and Double Ticket events because they are the most popular events by a long shot, but it’s possible the results here could have been skewed as a result.

What is surprising to see is how the Minigolf and Ball Race bonus events are the most popular by quite a long shot when excluding the fishing and ticket events. What’s also interesting is that it doesn’t seem like there’s a bonus event that people specifically don’t like. It’s just the likelihood of their attendance may drop depending on the type of Game World or Plaza event.

Map-Specific Bonus Events

Should there be more of them? Should there be less of them? Are there specific themes and maps you have in mind?

I had asked this in the survey with anticipation of further discussion, but I unfortunately didn’t get any kind of reply as a result, so I’m reposting this question since I think there’s a benefit for Map-Specific Bonus Events, but I’m not entirely sure if there’s many reasons to not have them. I personally think Map-Specific Events should be more focused across game worlds as opposed to just one singular game world. What do you think?

Graphs

Surprisingly, people are likely to attend most events except anything SDNL-related. It makes me wonder, why is SDNL specifically not as popular? Is it the skill difference that’s needed for EXP or Unit Payouts to actually matter? Is it something greater? There’s a lot of questions I do have that I can’t exactly get answered in a survey like this, but I wonder if this trend will continue with a larger sample size.

New Concepts of Bonus Events

I came up with 6 types of Bonus Events that aren’t in the game, and it seems I got a lot of positive feedback on some of them.

Popcorn & Chill: Theater Event was the most favored event idea I suggested, and I think it does encourage community get-togethers even more just like the second and third most favored event, House Party: Condo Event and Nightclub: Clubbers and DJs. It seems the recurring theme in the top 3 conceptualized events is togetherness and more importantly uniting with each other.

What surprised me most is that Minigame Mayhem: Minigames Event seemed to be the least popular in terms of conceptualized events. It could be the fact that minigames’ EXP is easier to max out, but I also included it for the sake of accessibility since it can be difficult to grind out Minigames EXP with something like carpal tunnel or arthritis for example.

Nonetheless, I personally do hope to see all of these conceptualized events get added in to the list of official Bonus Events that occur in-game.

Community Events

When asking the community if they knew about the events that occur in-game, most people have heard of them since I believe most responders learned about the survey via a community event directly. However, if they never planned on attending a community event before, they would jump straight to the next segment.

With only 12 responders and now more community events added to this list since the survey was released, I would like to see how this survey would change with a larger sample size.
NOTE: I didn’t include one-off events since I more so wanted to highlight the regular event hosts. Perhaps this could be included in a different survey.

Real-Life Events

The responses to the real-life events were probably the most impressive ones I got as I was expecting more to be adamant about not wanting to attend something like a convention if it meant running into other Tower Unite players.

When looking at the ones that did reply with either a Yes or a Maybe, it seems that PAX East and PAX West were the most popular in terms of conventions to look into for the North America region. As for the European region, I was surprised to see Gamescom be more popular than Insomnia, but I’m actually curious to see if this would change with a larger sample size.

What made it more interesting to me was to see PAX Australia have more inputs even though nobody responding in the survey was from that Oceania region that PAX Australia resides in. Perhaps other responders just want to see the region be represented more than anything else.
