I don’t want bhopping to get nuked out of SDNL, because I like it.
But I do feel like it’s something that someone at some point is going to get annoyed at in the future, so I’m doing the “propose regulation first so you can do it in your favor” bit. Instead of getting rid of it flat-out, have it be an option that people can turn on/off as they see fit when starting a match. It would be very unepic to get rid of it completely (like with LC ).
Although I hated getting destroyed by people bhopping, this would definitely be a good feature to keep around for when game mutators and lobby settings get introduced.
I don’t think air strafing is necessarily the issue (especially in modes like space snipers, where it’s pretty much required). An optional cap on max movement speed would probably be the better method.
This should just be a mutator when those release. I think it’s a little excessive to have a “lower skill ceiling” button right on the menu when starting a game. It feels weird. Especially if it’s currently impossible to tell what settings/game modes are enabled on the server browser.
I would dislike this a lot, unless it were held off to be a mutator.
Having a mutator for it would be fulfilling the same thing–toggling which movement style is being used, so I have no opposition to that. I just refrained from saying mutator up front because I don’t know if those are planned to be mix-and-match-able. I assume they would, seeing as things like the ball collision and first in the hole mutators for Minigolf or the mirrored mode and no items mutators for Accelerate would be weird to be exclusively one or the other.
