Third Person View option

I know there’s already a first person view suggestion from a few years ago, but I think third person would also be great (and perhaps easier to implement).

If it has to be tucked away under some “experimental/buggy settings” section that’s perfectly fine, I don’t expect it to be perfect and I know most maps don’t have anything in the distance or a skybox.

At the very least if we could get this as a setting we can enable while creating a ZM map that would be incredible and open up a lot of possibilities with making maps for this mode.

I had two ideas for compromises if the devs are hesitant to add third person due to being able to see areas that aren’t designed to be seen, like the sky and distant objects.

1.) When playing in third person, enable a (client-side) fog effect around the player that roughly equals the same distance you’d be able to see in top-down view.

2.) Go for a more angled third person view with a locked Y-axis and an off-center crosshair. Monster Madness was a top-down game from 2007 that offered an optional chase camera exactly like this, where you couldn’t see too much of the distance because of the way the camera was angled:

i worry that at the fast pace zombie massacre is, having your camera spin all over as you move with a max speed upgraded character would be nauseating for most.

Well that’s why it’d be an optional view. But you don’t move that fast even with max upgrades, it’s not Quake 3, and camera movement wouldn’t be any faster than it is when playing any other game world?
