Teleporter Transitions

Normally when you teleport using a teleporter in a condo, you get immediately teleported, and the only sign of it happening is a little particle effect.

I think a cool and simple way to make teleporters feel more natural is to have an option to have a “transition”.

A good example of what I mean already exists in Tower Unite. When you enter the elevator to the Highrise basement, you don’t immediately schlorp into the room. Instead, the door of the elevator opens, a sound plays, and most importantly, the screen fades to black, the player is teleported, and then the screen fades back to normal. This already feels a lot more “professional” than the options we have now.

Essentially, just have an option to have a transition, define the transition type (Examples below), the transition color, and the delay before you teleport.

Here are some examples of transition types you could add:

Color Fade: Screen fades to defined color, then fades back to game. Just like the transitions already in the game.

Freeze Fade: Takes a freeze frame, then fades to the game.

Iris Out: The classic cartoon transition. Circle closes to black.

Melt: In the style of DOOM. The screen freeze frames, then melts down the screen. (maybe with option to melt up or down?)

Wipe: Screen wipes to the left or right. Evocative of Star Wars.

There are obviously way more ideas for transitions, but I would love this for making more interesting looking teleports!

I love this idea! imagine, recreating not just doom level but an entire campaign!
