When you stretch the stone sphere fountain to make it somewhat flat, I believe the hitbox shrinks to the point where you can no longer select it due to many attempts trying to move a flat fountain for making a lake… pic:

use stretched hottubs to make water for lakes
For now you can pick it up with the item finder on the C menu.
