Having teams as a separate mode feels a bit restrictive in terms of mode select, not to mention how some modes are exclusive to teams which could potentially have fun FFA variants. Setting Teams as a mutator would allow for more mode variety for both FFA and team games.
Gamemodes like Slasher, Arena, Instagib, Last man standing and Space Snipers could all be adapted to team modes easily, which would be a nice addition. It doesn’t make sense to me why a few of these don’t already have team equivalents.
Mode such as Oddball and Dino Battle can get adaptations to work with FFA. FFA Oddball could me a frantic every man for themselves mode where everyone scrambles to try to hold the oddball for as much time as possible. FFA Dino battle could be a mode exclusively with Dinosaurs instead of the Hunter and Dino team dynamic.
You could even have a CTF FFA where there’s just one flag and one capture zone that every player needs to run for. There’s already an unassigned flag in the editor for that.
The only issue I see is with rewiring Condo IO to fit with the new system. The only idea that I have is to make a new connection on the Gameworld Module for every mode either in it’s new FFA or Team variant. While this would prevent maps from breaking under the new system, it would also add an absurd amount of categories under the module, which for organization purposes might be a bit of a headache.
