Recharge station overhaul

After spending about an hour playing laser tag with a moderately-sized group, I payed attention to the most common gripes and gameplay frustrations we ran into. This was by far the biggest one.

Currently, one or multiple players can camp the recharge stations for cheap, easy kills. This is a glaring flaw and I propose a solution, as radical as it may sound - ditch the recharge mechanic entirely, but keep the stations and replace them with an “overshield” charger to boost players’ shields over the maximum limit (up to 150 HP).

Instead of having to use a recharging station, temporarily deactivate players’ vests and weapons until players return to their team’s side of the arena, not at a predefined set of points that can be endlessly camped.

TL;DR:

  • Ditch the recharge station mechanic. Replace with “overcharge” stations which add up to 50HP over your max.

  • Add a “recharge” volume at each team color’s side of the map. You must be within your team’s recharge volume to “respawn”. This will prevent camping and add an element of randomness to respawning.

  • Each overcharge station can be used ONCE per round, and is then disabled.
