I’ve been playing Toontown Online a long time ago in my younger days of online gaming. Why does this feature has never been implemented? I’ve never used the quick chat feature in Among Us since this game has implemented years ago. I’ve also been using quick chat in Team Fortress 2 for quite a bit. So I wanna suggest this feature to be more safe and secure without ruining the experience to all users out there.
However, I also wanted to have a slowdown timer for the quick chat feature to avoid text spam.
The quick chat feature are devided into key letters from the keyboard as followed:
G for General, followed by R for Responses, and followed by numbers of quick responses from 1 to 9 on the keyboard, or 0 to return to the last quick chat section.
First, I open the all chat, then press Q for quick chat.
Next, I pressing G for General, then pressing A for Activites.
Lastly, I respond by pressing a number on my keyboard by saying “Wanna play Ball Race?”.
If I want to cancel quick chat and go back to the normal chat, I press Esc.

Yeah, I noticed Team Fortress 2 and Overwatch 2 has it which is useful in a pinch on top of having a bit of fun interacting some players through it.
In Overwatch’s case, it would have a Response wheel that you can hover to, well response with.
It’ll have the basics but by heading to the option menu. You can change to your liking. Such as replacing “Over here!” to “Sorry!”
Not sure it’s better then TF2’s way but I do like it being more compatible for both mouse and controller players.

Implementing the “Help” category makes zero sense, and would quickly be dismissed as lazy alternative to just creating an in-game wiki for help.
Also, I feel like QC in general would make the chat feel really robotic and impersonal. The amount of spam would probably be crazy. This is coming from someone who has played quite a few MMOs in the past, people just looove to flood the chat with all kinds of irrelevant messages if they can, even if theres a cooldown. One person says something, other person follows.
