Player Owned Casinos

A long time ago I managed to buy a casino on an old HL2DM RP server for a crapton of money and it was a pretty sweet experience, money was lost and made and whenever somebody won a jackpot you always smiled as they walked out the door with all of your cash, leaving you destitute. Good times.

Anyway, a similar system would work perfect on Tower Unite thanks to Condos and Props. One could buy a slot machine (expensive!) and load it up with Units which would allow others to play it. Whenever they deposit coins the machine gets Units. Whenever the player wins, the machine pays out Us. Here’s the interesting part: Jackpots. Normally the player would lose money over time by gambling but since this is Tower and time is a pseudo-currency, it would be recouped by the jackpot. This means that players who stick around long enough to win a jackpot would gain Units, and the host would naturally gain Units over time from players going for the jackpot.

Now if we stopped there it would just be a late-game investment method for high level players, and that would probably upset the economy, so what we really need is a way for the richer players to give back: The much cheaper charity slot would pay out more than it costs, and would still benefit from jackpots generating currency but it would almost always run a loss for the host. As a result, gambling hosts would have to balance normal slots and charity slots in order to keep players engaged and coming back. Generally speaking, a player who is greedy and only uses normal slots will eventually lose player interest, while generous hosts would get a lot of player activity and feed more jackpots as a result, potentially encouraging players to use nearby slots when the charity slots are already in use.

Hopefully this would lead to interesting scenarios where players will create custom casinos within their condos, or small gambling rooms to allow guests to show appreciation for the more awesomely designed condos while still gaining Units for themselves.

Things worth noting:
The host can add or remove money from the slot at any time, but it must have a certain amount in it (for payouts) before it will run and it can’t be tampered with while a player is using it. Jackpots would be instanced to the player, to prevent unscrupulous owners from kicking players out when their jackpot gets large and claiming it for themselves.

This is a nightmare for security regarding the back end and ensuring players don’t spawn their own free money like crazy. Not wise in that sense. This would also divide up players, which is shitty. Especially when the casino is one of the main areas players are in in the plaza. I don’t like this idea

I would agree with EvKem here because having multiple casinos just ruins the point of having the plaza casino.

While I agree with the other two about this posing lots of issues, I’ve always been a fan of the idea of player-hosted lobbies. I sincerely hope that one day in the distinct future we could have stuff like this, in addition to minigames and all that. Otherwise, condos literally only exist for the sole purpose of sightseeing, which I’m not really fond of.

Maybe it would work better if it was an extension of the main casino, where players could rent a room to host in.

Just my own two cents, I’d much prefer gambiling methods such as PvP or Russian Roulette.
Which btw are both planned, just not implemented.
Both allow you to bet on your own survival, and the winnings are triple your bet.
Or a better less abusive system, it costs the same for every player. Winning players win the pot.

My idea is that in someones condos you can pay for some things and and support them, such as 1 slot machine
