Open at sundown, closed at sunrise

After seeing a lot of people in Tower Unite gambling at the casino all day, all night without taking a break to play other plaza activities, I wanted for the in-game plaza to have the Tower Casino to be closed on sun rise, and reopen on sun set.

TL;DR:

  • When the sun rise, turn off the exterior and interior lights. Lock the entrance doors to the Casino from the monorail station and the main central plaza.
  • When the sun set, turn on the exterior and interior lights. Unlock the entrance doors to the Casino from the monorail station and main central plaza.
  • Add a time limit for players in the Casino. If they take too long at the Casino, they’ll be respawning at the Subway Station.

I don’t mean for this to come across as rude, but I really don’t see a point to this.
If your favorite activity was suddenly locked behind a time limit, would you like that?

Personally, I would be annoyed that I can’t play something because of time-sensitivity, either it being made to follow my system’s clock or the day/night cycle of the plaza server.
People would server-hop or go change their system clock to circumvent this change, were it to be realized in the game.

This excerpt is from the game’s description from the Steam store page:

In Tower, you decide what you wanna do! From winning prizes at the Arcade, getting a strike at the Bowling Alley, Fishing up your next big catch, bumping into Bumper Cars on the Boardwalk, testing your knowledge in Trivia, or testing your skills at Laser Tag.

I feel like going against that would be going against one of the fundamentals of this game.
TU is a pick-up-and-play game and people enjoy different activities.

Some people prefer spending time in the Casino and that’s okay.

…now, whether it’s healthy to be spending a lot of time playing the game is a different subject entirely, and can’t really be enforced with most games (and shouldn’t, in my opinion), beyond soft reminders (which the game already does, to prevent using macros/scripts to play the machines indefinitely).

A good way to go about that would be to have reminders set up every so often (on their phone or computer) to get up and stretch/do something else and come back.

Why should Tower Unite decide when you can play specific activities? That should be at the discretion of the players, not determined arbitrarily by the game.

As much as I’m disappointed in how many people sit alone wasting away in the casino instead of socializing in what’s supposed to be a social game, I don’t think this is the best way to fix the problem.

I get where you’re coming from, but no core plaza activities should be time limited (except for special events/minigames of course).

Completely agree with what everyone else has already said, I just wanted to add my experience after reading @Sonder’s comment about sitting alone and wasting time.

The casino is actually where I’ve met some of my greatest friends in TU, there’s often a lot of voice chat going on there whether it’s us all sitting on slots or up at the highroller table.

On top of that, almost every time I go to the Casino, which is fairly often, I’ll be on Discord streaming Roulette to my friends. It’s a great little thing to have on in the background while we’re all chilling in VC.

I know that my experience isn’t everyone’s and there are certainly people that do sit on slots all day long without being in Discord calls but not everyone is social! Some people love TU to be able to play all the minigames on their own.

I have a few friends who love some of the time-limited plaza minigames that pop up, their biggest complain has always been that they can’t go play say, Pumpkin Blast, whenever they want. I can’t imagine them also then having to deal with a Casino time limit.
