Since NPCs that can walk along user-created paths are planned for Tower Unite in the future, I thought that more interactive NPCs in general could be a nice thing. Now, I know there have been quite a few suggestions for NPCs over the years to make them more interactive, but I believe that one of the things that hasn’t been suggested is quite simple: Give us an ability to make the NPCs in our Condos use AI behaviors from various Game Worlds that can be played in single player - For example: Zombie AI (and it’s different types if they exist) that you could select for an NPC in your Condo. It would make that NPC behave like the Zombie Massacre Zombie when near the player, pretty self-explanatory.
NPCs with AI behavior is on its way. There will be an NPC AI item that will can either be friendly and follow you or be idle, or be an enemy and attack you. You will have the ability to adjust how fast they move and use workshop models. There will also be IO commands to tell the NPC to use items such as switches or doors.
Okay, this is amazing, thank you! I did hear about the enemy part somewhere earlier but I’m not sure, will they get to be using Game World AI or their own? I think that’s the only question that I have
For specific IO use, do these NPCs will have a toggle to define if they will trigger/not trigger IO volumes? (Such as trigger, push, damages…)
Not sure about that but I do believe that it would be great if this was an option.
Yes, there’s already filters setup for these volumes but the setting is hidden at the moment until the NPC is out.
One more thing though. Considering the original question wasn’t fully answered per se, will AI for these new NPCs be entirely separate from other AI in the game or will we be able to assign Game World specific enemy AIs for these guys? That’s honestly all that I wanna know if it’s not too big of a problem that I ask. I’m also considering changing the solution on the thread/topic if this gets answered but until then the one I marked will stay.
Small bump for this, as the original question in the suggestion was never fully answered. Just to quickly reintroduce the topic, I’m wondering whether or not we will be able to give NPCs AIs from enemies in Game Worlds, or if those will only have their own AI.
