Minigolf: Arrow Keys & Spacebar Functionality

The purpose of these additional controls is to make shots possible to take without the mouse, and to allow the fine tuning of exactly where to shoot and how forceful the shot should be. Here is my suggested key use:

  • Up Arrow Key: Increases shot power
  • Down Arrow Key: Decreases shot power
  • Left Arrow Key: Rotates the shot direction counterclockwise
  • Right Arrow Key: Rotates the shot direction clockwise
  • Spacebar: Fires the shot

The benefit to having these as added controls is that you will not need to use your mouse to play Minigolf! You could just use WASD for moving the camera, and the controls mentioned above to aim and fire. Furthermore, these controls should allow you to have better control on precisely where you want to fire, instead of relying on a landmark on which to position your mouse to fire from.

I think I like the subjectivity of minigolf. There’s a certain uncertainty to whether you’ve lined up a shot correctly or whether you fired with too much power and I think that’s a major point of the game.
