Metal Detector Feedback: Simplify the mechanics

I was looking forward to this mechanic knowing full well that most of the time you’d obviously just detect and collect trash, but the current implementation on top of that is just excessively tedious.

You limit trash collection to a really tiny random event window as opposed to letting people detect items whenever they desire to. (Or wherever they desire to, such as the beach at their default condo) But worst of all I hate that movement mechanic. Why is the spilled drink moving around on the beach? It would be much more enjoyable if this was simplified. Just let me explore and collect mostly trash at any beach at any time without the trash moving for no reason. Constantly losing focus because the worthless trash is spinning around you rapidly and having to spend ages chasing it down will just lead to this mechanic being abandoned in the future.

A simplified system that allows for detection of trash (and very rarely good items) without it magically moving across the greater coastline would give players an incentive to explore those often deserted areas around the clock. Right now it seems like a feature I thought would be enjoyable as a simple way to kill time is just designed to be both frustrating and unrewarding all at once.

I am confused? Spilled drink doesn’t move around?

What you are describing isn’t simplifying, it’s making a completely new feature.

When I last did the event, I obtained a spilled drink with the metal detector after chasing “it” around. Whatever “it” is supposed to be.

I guess I meant simplifying the concept. I.e the item you are detecting doesn’t move around, it’s static and ready for people to pick up once they reach it’s proximity with the metal detector in hand, and the window to do so isn’t limited to a treasure event. What currently exists just feels tedious, and when you do get through that tedium the end result is most likely trash.

Metal Detector treasure does not move around. They stay completely still.

I was able to stand still and aim in one direction waiting, and I witnessed the treasure moving around, its distance relative to me would change constantly even though I was static. Upon trying to move toward the treasure, it’s position would change rapidly, to the extent I would have to spin around and move in random directions to try and close my proximity between myself and the moving treasure before I could obtain it.

I think you’re just getting confused on how the item works. The treasure doesn’t move at all, it’s all completely static.

I don’t know what to tell you. Maybe someone else can confirm, but while I remained completely static, not touching a thing, the item would move out of my proximity. I’m not insane.

I think maybe the item you say was moving around was just the metal detector swapping to a different treasure after the first was taken. I did a good bit of metal detecting yesterday and I didn’t have any problems with finding the treasure.

The treasure chest can’t move around when they have spawned, the little distance counter on your metal detector changes according the metal detectors position relative to where the chest is, so if you were standing on top of a chest and looked down and then up (or vice versa) the distance counter would change.

Only way for a treasure chest to “move” at the moment would be if someone either broke into pixeltail games and altered its programming, or someone else took the chest you were looking for, since the metal detector spots all chest near you it will instantly pick up another signal if its close enough.

I got some footage from yesterday i can show you that shows how the treasure hunting mechanic works and how the treasures don’t randomly move about, if you wanna see it just tell me.

If that’s true, treasure would have had to of been taken really rapidly within a close proximity. But I didn’t see anyone else around.
