Heya, just a thought I had on the recent changes to how 18+ condos are displayed
I like that this is a feature now but the amount of friends I have who wont have a clue where to look to enable seeing those condos, let alone realize theyre hidden by default is a pretty high number
My suggestion is that a checkbox be added at the top that just says “Enable Mature Condos” right there on the condo list itself
Its also good for anyone curious and wanting to have a quick peek without having to go in and out of settings enabling and disabling it again
With how repulsed by the very idea of allowing the existence of more mature Condos vast majority of the developers and community are, I don’t see this becoming a thing. Still, I give this an vote as I personally agree with the suggestion.
I may have had gotten things confused with workshop content - That would be my mistake then. So at least when it comes to that, I think what I’m trying to convey is valid. VRChat and other platforms existing and being more lenient on this stuff isn’t an excuse for limiting player freedom of expression - VRChat manages to exist within the realm of legality and Tower could as well when it comes to this type of content. It’s an matter of will to do so, and most certainly not personal preference of developers and loud part of the community voicing themselves out on the matter in an negative manner.
Could you explain what you mean by this limiting freedom of expression? The purpose of this system seems to be to allow people who want to host condos with adult content to be able to do so while allowing others to not see it if they do not want to.
I’m just as confused like the rest.
If you’re referring to VRChat 18+ stuff. Well…
TL;DR: Steam Workshop allowing 18+ is a different topic altogether.
VRChat and TU have different rules and systems in place.
Long:
Originally it was not exactly allowed but everyone involved to acknowledge it exists and turn a blind eye for the most part until kids got involved (another reason TU should stayed payed game but not the point)
Snice then VRChat decided to publicly announce it with a filter so user can be continue as is, not saying it’ll stop those kind of players to play dumb. But it’s something.
If Tower Unite were to allow 18+ workshop stuff in their game. Which curious is not point of this OP’s post.
I’m pretty sure Valve would get involved with it as I’m pretty sure Steam Workshop is well, part of Valve’s system.
How a software like Wallpaper Engine allow such things is a mystery.
Even so, I’m guessing PixelTails would have to change the systems and rules in place if Steam Workshop were to be allowed. Honestly feels like a already a pain.
Not sure about everyone else. I’m okay canvas being the only 18+ related things because it’s not part of Steam Workshop.
Anyways for OP’s Topic.
I think it’s a great idea! Not everyone knows/wants to go to the Settings for some reason.
Having a Mature check mark in the Condo List would make it obvious.
Maybe a popup suggestion in Condo List for first timers whenever they want it or not?
Just an idea. It’ll make them be aware the option exists in Settings.
@macdguy please reconsider this and/or add a blurb to the “Welcome to Condos!” popup when first clicking Player Condos that mentions this setting exists and can be turned off/on
