Lack of VR mentioned in Road to 1.0

It should at least get some more work before 1.0, it was something mentioned in the original kickstarter and indigogo campaign, part of the reason I bought a Quest 3 is because I knew VR was a planned feature in Tower.

This is one of my favorite games and would suit VR very well, it also would renew my interest strongly, I would most likely double my hours from the added immersion seeing as most the activities in Tower are very life-like and it gives the goggles more screen time. The gameworlds would be awesome in VR, motion sickness is a thing of the past for most VR headsets and although not everyone owns VR, it gives VR users another game to add on their main catalogue of games to play.

I’ve wanted VR for a long time in Tower, please I beg you Pixeltail, I don’t know if anyone else feels so strongly about this, but an official complete implementation of VR is something I’ve wanted for a long time, I read all the weekly devlogs hoping to see an entry in VR and it clearly is not a priority. Not saying it should be top of the list but I hope to see it more feature complete and see the motion controls be utilized more in plaza minigames e.g: being able to press buttons physically without a button prompt, motion controls for plaza minigames such as Whack a Mole, Hoops and the Carnival Minigames & Gameworld VR implementation.

I know, I understand there is alot of work that would go into this that would detract attention from other features but it is something that has been promised since the start. Please Pixeltail!

Much love!

VR is still in development, it wasn’t mentioned in the post because that post covered things that are delayed or discontinued. VR is not discontinued.

VR has been getting major updates and improvements in just the last update or so (see https://trello.com/c/jjBeq6By), but it’ll be a constantly updated feature.

Currently the hurdle right now is getting the bindings to work for players without having to change all their settings.

As for Arcade support, each game is going to be its own VR project and we’ve been currently optimizing and changing arcade physics which needs to be done before we get to VR for them.

Also, weekly logs are more loose and for showcasing fun in-development things weekly and don’t cover overall progress. I’m the main developer for VR and I often don’t want to put VR in the weekly if it’s not something worth showing off. It’s better to look at our Monthly updates to get a better understanding of broader goals.

i feel strongly passionate about this so i wanna share my feelings and thoughts on this matter~

regarding the VR development; i wanna say that i am also looking forward to this!! I own Quest 2 and played decent amount of VRChat, SUPERHOT, and Job Simulator- a game like Tower Unite is literally so perfect to have on VR, there’s a lot of potential; especially on social aspect

to me, playing VRChat using VR feels “real”, it’s like being in a dream except that you’re actually in it and you could be there “in person” with friends and it’s such a really awesome feeling ; w ;

picture this. you’re in a cozy home you created yourself to hang out with friends on the couch watching youtube. that’s absolutely incredible to think about! not to also mention being in arcade, you could feel excited seeing so many arcade games around and see your friends there too!

these who played VRChat on VR will see why it’s a big deal!! plus i feel like there isn’t many video games that has so many unique arcade games, carnival activities, casino, etc with authentic feel and I want tower unite to continue succeeding in that field

i think of video games as a escape from reality; it’s nice to relax playing video games and having fun without thinking about stressful aspects of life so having an option to enjoy arcade within the comfort of your home would be wonderful to have ^o^

With TU being super user-friendly making customizable condos. I totally agree. No advance knowledge required.

I was blown away when VR mode first showed up.
Seeing my Condo-Condo for the first time in VR was amazing!
It’s unreal how a change in prospective makes a difference!
I definitely want VR to be out of alpha. Just so I can chill in my own comfy condos~
(It would also give me a reason to play emulators in that mode. Haha)
