Global Player Count

Essentially, this would be a number found on the main menu or in some other place that would display the total number of online users playing Tower Unite at that moment, across all servers.

This would be useful because any player would be able to see the total number of players online and thus gauge how popular the game is at that moment, and also to gain a better idea of the many people available to interact with. This is mainly to make the game feel less empty, because players may mistake the playercount of the official server for the total number of online users, which is incorrect.

My apologies if this was already planned. I don’t remember seeing this mentioned anywhere…

+1 cool idea

Dunno if that’s possible using the Steam APIs.

Where are they pulling the info on the Steam stats page?

Why shouldn’t it?

I think CSGO does that when you do a quick match

They got a Web-API where you can access some player data, but sometimes it doesn’t refresh properly.

CSGo is valve game. Its matchmaking backend is completely different and customised to fit the needs of the game.

Not very frequently, that’s for sure.
Games like PAYDAY 1 have a player counter, though I don’t know where it’s pulled from.

Steam still broadcasts the global player count. This really shouldn’t be hard at all.

You can currently see the active players here: https://steamdb.info/app/394690/graphs/
