I made a very poor design a little while ago about this, but here’s my suggestion in few screenshots.

Condo selection
Games worlds browsers (Minigolf here)
That would make some sort of quality of life improvement.
How about this?
I find myself reflexively pressing ESC all the time to try and exit menus, knowing full well that it won’t work. This would be a small quality-of-life thing that goes a long way when using menus frequently.
Either ESC or Backspace would make for good options. It’s always good to give other solutions in menus over the mouse.
I feel like ESC working this way is just complying with the de facto standard users expect, like using WASD for movement.
I’ll look into this.
Should have these in by the next update.
