Dev Log for January 14th, 2026

Hey everyone! Its the beginning of a new year, and we’re back for a dev log for January 14, 2026!

We hope you all had a great end of the year and we wish everyone the best for the new year!

2025 was a big year for PixelTail, and we’re really looking forward to what’s in store in 2026! :slightly_smiling_face:

:megaphone: General

We’ll be working on our two ongoing projects this year: Tower Unite & Elevator!

:palm_tree: Tower Unite

Since the last dev log, we wrapped up the second half of the Winter Holidays update and have continued working on Optimizations, Items, Cooking, Accelerate SDK, and more!

For 2026, we’re going to continue working through our post-1.0 Roadmap as well as deliver the usual QoL updates and fixes for Tower Unite!

:building_construction: Plaza Optimizations

We’ve wrapped up some substantial work on Plaza Optimizations since the last update!

We’ve made updates to how the Boardwalk renders, some improvements for users on low post processing settings, improved anti-aliasing performance and optimized night lighting.

We also fixed a massive performance issue with dynamic lights, and improved performance, render distances, etc. for numerous misc. lights throughout the Plaza, among other improvements!

:pot_of_food: Cooking

The “Cooking Mode” System was completed! Players will be able to toggle cooking mode on, select the items they wish to cook, and throw them into cookers (like the blender)!

Work was also completed on the cooking processor logic (for recipes), and the cooking actions system with heat, blend, freeze, prepare, grill, and boil as the options!

:collision: SDNL / Milestones

Fixes were made to the Grenade Launcher’s sticky grenade as well as the “The Big Finale” achievement! We also made some light tweaks to existing SDNL milestone items for QoL purposes.

More super weapons such as the Grenade Launcher, Rocket Launcher, and Chaingun were added to Kalarry’s Warez!

:chequered_flag: Accelerate

The “Track Spline” for the Accelerate Map Editor has been completed. This spline will allow players to place down track pieces easily when making their own Accelerate maps.

:couch_and_lamp: Items & Condo

Lots of work was done on fixing material regressions for various items, as well as some texture fixes, collision issues, coloring issues, seating and emote issues, and NPC / Camera issues.

We also have a batch of new items such as the Accessory Pedestal and Physics Pool tube which allow players to display owned accessory items in their Condos as items! Another addition is the Text Ticker Item, which is an alternative of the Theater Ticker item.


And, finally, we have the Laundry items, made for Elevator, which will be items in Tower Unite! These include the Commercial Laundry Washer, Laundry Detergent, Laundry Whitening Powder, Laundry Dryer Sheets, and Bleach.

We’ve had the Elevator kickstarter ongoing since December 16th, 2025, and we have raised over $70,000! We are so appreciative for the support.

Few questions about Elevator game!!

Game key is $8 on kickstarter; will it be $8 when it’s out on Steam?
Kickstarter doesn’t have paypal option and I don’t want to use my credit card, haha

Will Elevator have Steam workshop or share with Tower Unite’s workshop for playermodels?

Also happy y’all are still working on Tower Unite, I’m very excited about cooking system; love the idea of being able to actually interact and throw real food in to make something!!

SUPER HAPPY WITH LAUNDRY ITEMS BTW it’s something i’ve wanted so long! these cleaning items will be useful as space filler in kitchens, bathrooms, stores, etc (:

The full game will be $7.99 on Steam.

Elevator currently does not have any plans for Steam Workshop player model support. We’re not against modding, though, and the character models share the same skeleton as Tower’s which will let people make local mods if they want.

I plan to do these as some of the last things for the Elevator floor (and backport to TU)… but first I need to do the dirty clothes :frowning:

I’ll gladly take dirty clothes!! great for messy bedroom builds! i kept having to use workshop for that so that would be helpful.
