Clothing is planned for the default playermodels:

We’re on track to get more NPC models done, and we hope to reuse some of the work on the NPCs to create a more interesting default player model. Once we get that going, we can start adding customizations to the new default player models such as hair and clothing.

Would be kinda cool to have it for workshop playermodels too but I feel like itd be kind of a nightmare to apply clothing offsets to a lot of models without clipping or looking off, even if the devs add variations to each clothing item for different body types or something
