Custom Trivia is actually famous and well-received in party games.
Playable for two players or more, Custom Trivia is where players make their own questions in the beginning and answer them when the game begins.
Mechanics
-
Each player gets to write 3 ~ 4 multiple choice/true-or-false questions. Players who do not want to write can “give up” to use OpenDB questions.
-
If possible, these written questions are saved in player’s own data, allowing them to re-use in the future.
-
A Question has a question, an answer, wrong answer(s), and an explanation.
-
All questions written will be played in the round.
-
When a question comes up during gameplay, the designer cannot answer the question. The game must tell the players who wrote the question.
-
Features “draw” which omits no Unit payout as players can make nonsense questions, which the only purpose is to have an incredibly hard question.
-
Explanation feature. I’m a bit sad that this is not in the default Trivia, but when everyone’s answers are revealed, the explanation is displayed.
Trivia could be an extremely fun activity that could last hours with proper customization. Custom Trivia would provide a virtually unlimited content to the players, giving their friends and/or the participants good laughs and relatable entertainment as question could be memories they shared together or something they like in common.
