I really think it would be an idea that would make the community very happy, it would be something very fun, especially if they contain sound or visual effects, music, etc. Add silence option in case they become annoying.
I could see this being used inappropriately very easily.
That is true, so a review would be done before publication. Although some would still break the rules haha.
This is a great suggestion, it would be really cool if there were custom emotes for each model. The social part of the game would improve a lot as it would add a multitude of new ways to interact with other people
vrchat has taught us that this is not a good idea xD
While I’d hate to limit the creativity of people, yeah this would be a bad idea.
But there is a better solution;
Developers could hold a competition for suggested emotes to be added.
Then the applicable ones (we’re talking ones that aren’t just dumb suggestions) get put into a poll, winner gets animated and put into the game.
i find enough horny furries in ballrace and minigolf, and its so much worse when i condo hop, as cute as it would be, and nice as it would be (seeing as tower unite has no animator currently), i have to disagree, even though i dont want to
Too bad people think this is a bad idea, considering a good implementation of this could prevent nearly all of the bad stuff happening with this. Have my vote for this suggestion, it’s a great idea with great potential. People just see things and think they will always be bad - Yeah, sure, inevitably people will try to make bad stuff, but like, add some automated review system for workshop submissions combined with human review? Limiting the potential of the game for a reason that’s actually not that good. Sad…
When it comes to the internet, you gotta assume more harm then good. And often times that is the case.
It does sound nice on paper. But if you think about it, there maybe more issues with it then slapping it on.
In this case, I’d say the problem with this is forcing people to download the custom emote to even work. When a player joins Condo/Plaza with a subscribed emote. Thus mini lag.
I agree with Xmarksit take. Getting emotes officially suggested by the community and then the devs adding is more safer way to go about it.
Yeah… I was in the middle of suggesting dancing animations in Tower Unite (like a Thriller dance for example), but the devs has no animators which sucks for me because one dev in GMod has been working for a Fortnite dance T^T
I wanted for a default emotes rather than custom within’ a speech bubbles which devs really need to focus on which will avoid ruining the experience to all of us.
I think this explanation offers much more sense, especially the technical side of things. And while yeah, I do definitely think you gotta assume the worst from people on internet, at least this could be prevented. Then again though, I suppose people will always find ways around things andthe technical explanation helps this more than just “people bad” soo… I do suppose it is better to ultimately go with their (Xmarkits’) idea then.
In that case, that works very well too. I suppose we can consider this thread closed unless anyone else comes in with something more to say, but I do think that would work too, like your and Xmarksits’ idea.
