So everyone I’ve talked to so far agrees the game would be a hell of a lot better on source, the game will always have networking issues otherwise. All because tower unite runs on glitchy physics.
imagine if you could play on laggy condos with smooth, crisp, consistent and polished gameplay.
Not sure how big of an ask this could be from the dev team of course, but the idea just feels popular so who knows, maybe?
Source Engine 2 isn’t even feature complete, and there’s an unfortunate high likelihood it’ll stay that way for many more years to come. And there’s no guarantee it’ll be given to the public as Source 2009 & 2013 was.
Its engine structure is wildly different with little to no public documentation on how to use it. Which would result in a year or more of trial and error backporting assets into the new engine, with a slim chance Valve will provide any guidance. So much of the game would break, for very little advantage or benefit just so the game can sit on an incomplete engine.
It wouldn’t be the magical ‘fix all’ optimistic people think it’d be. It’s just not a viable option.
