Condo/SDK maps and deleted Workshop items

While making a Condo or Game World map using the SDK, there are often times where I need a prop that isn’t in the game and it’s too complex to make with canvas shapes, so I resort to using Workshop furniture.

I hate doing this though, because there’s always the chance the uploader randomly decides to wipe all of their uploads and break people’s maps. I’ve had it happen with my Condo a few times. It’s not as huge of a deal to fix with Condos, but it’s very worrying for me while working on a Game World map at the moment.

My suggestion is: How about a map setting that lets us save all Workshop items to the map itself, like “baking” it in, so that it is permanently available even if the original item is deleted from the Workshop.

I’m bumping my suggestion today because I went to show my Virus map to some friends last night and was greeted by a notification that two items the map used are now gone/deleted from the Workshop with no way for me to even see the creator’s Steam name to ask them if they’ll reupload.

This is a major issue imo, so many custom maps across all game modes use Workshop items and just one going missing can break a map, and I’ve already seen quite a few in the recent past that are entirely broken for that exact reason.

There should really be a way to bake the items into the map itself to avoid this problem.
