Concerns About Community Condos

Amen. I didn’t believe it until I got my first “real” job a few years back. It sucks to feel like you’re losing interest on something you work on for a living.

Community condos get here when they get here, people. When you backed the Kickstarter/IndieGogo or purchased Tower in its early access state, you accepted the risks of delays and setbacks. Tower never had deadlines, only estimates for development time.

I should probably go ahead and slap down my points then in regards to this then.

@macdguy, @Lifeless, You guys are definitely right. Development takes time. Sometimes you hit a bump in the road and you need to take a detour.

I’m currently on my way to study for a game/digital design degree at UF, so I know exactly what this job entails.

Video game design is no easy feat. You have to have the dedication, willpower, and the creative drive to make your concept a reality. Already we’ve gotten features and items WAAAAAY beyond GMT’s scope, and that’s because you guys are as dedicated to this as you have been. Sometimes you have to swap gears and work on something else in order to get what you wanted to work to do so properly.

Now, do I wish Community condos was a thing right now? Yes. Do I wish we had a new workshop PM rig? Yes. Do I wish that the Nightclub had come sooner? Oh definitely. But those desires of mine are inconsequential to actually getting this shit done.

What I’m seeing a lot of here is people who want the desert before the dinner. Sure yeah, you could eat all that ice cream, but it wouldn’t last you very long would it? Its the same way with this game. A lot of the people here fail to realize that while it is true that you have been swapping gears as much as you have from time to time, it hasn’t been without purpose. Lobby 3 definitely needed to happen. The vehicle base definitely needed to come. And sometimes, shit gets pushed back. Odyssey is cool, but would you rather have a working fucking backend system that this game needs to survive or have the opportunity to pitch yourself into the void of space in minigolf?

Be patient guys. This shit takes time. The devs are people too, and they’re not slaves to your petty whims.

I’m sorry I started off a difficult conversation for you guys, I don’t think anyone was complaining though. I think you guys are doing an awesome job. Since Ive got it off humble bundle there’s been several updates and it was me just trying to figure out how far off it would be. I’m just super happy I got a response so thank you for your hard work.

I couldn’t stay away though. Been on it again today and as long as community condos are eventually a thing I’ll be happy. Just want to be able to leave my museum up and running all the time.

It’s been ‘in developement’ since like March 2015 and it took 4 years for Lobby 3 to come out. Given that you haven’t been working on Lobby 3 for 4 years, we know that. The game has seen nothing that has players coming back, except when an update comes out.

Things like fishing and what else? The rollercoaster that nobody rides? Fishing, which I see hardly anyone use that much except the couple days it was released? Yeah, the plaza will be even more live when they go and sit at the casino.

Any game is going to see a spike in player numbers when a major update drops. Tower has a pretty regular userbase even between updates, it’s just mostly on weekends. Player count is also trending upwards consistently if you look at the active player numbers on Steam. It’s not like less people are playing it over time.

Oh yeah, the 100 player increase, then returns back to its low point within 2 weeks. Within the month that the player peak hit 1.5k, it went down to 300-400. It’s gone from about 250 players max a day on TU (June 2017), to maybe 450 max a day (now).

they definitely are not all in one area, there’s probably 1-2 people in each spot.

Still, thats still alot of people fishing compared to everything else you can do in the plaza

Yeah, lots of 5 people fishing, compared to anything else considered ‘fun’, in the plaza

Before I open this topic again, keep in mind that we’ve already explained a lot of what is being discussed elsewhere and I really need to actually work now.
