My suggestion is to have several chess/checker board stations scattered around the plaza. It could be similar to the gameplay loop of Pool with a two player limit but give the option to pick between chess or checkers before it starts “looking for player to join”.
There are several areas around the outskirts of the plaza that would fit these perfectly and not feel out of place at all. I saw that back in Jul '19 Mac mentioned it could be done using the base of the arcade. Hopefully this can still be done, it would be super fun and give another really good reason to hang out in the Lobbies!
