Can someone please explain why this happens in Mini golf pipes?

I really do not understand splines. I cannot get them to be smooth and I often get issues like this…

which I cannot solve at all.

Can someone please explain how to get nice smooth mini golf pipes, rather than wobbly messes, why the above occures and how to fix it.

Oh it would also be very usefull if the two add point and delete/remove point options that are displayed could be explained as they appear to do different things. The one on the right of the screen seem to add curved nodes, and delete the current one. While the ones at the base of the screen… Actually I am not quite sure what they do, but they don’t behave the same, despite being labled add point and remove point.

I noticed it’s very specifically affecting pipes that go completely vertical at any point during the pipe’s spline.
If you try making a pipe that is only vertical, it doesn’t render at all.

My only guess is that their function for generating the pipe geometry expects some level of horizontality. I usually get around it by making the pipes slightly off from being exactly vertical, just a tiny bit so people don’t notice it so easily.
