In a recent game of laser tag, one of the core issues I noticed is with players crouching and hiding in corners of the map, prolonging the game and making it a boring hide-and-seek experience for everyone involved. There needs to be an incentive beyond “kill all other players”, or this kind of stale gameplay is inevitable.
There’s nothing wrong with TDM/FFA being the main goal, but I propose something on top of the current gamemode to incentivize risk and encourage players to encounter others more often. This will speed up rounds so people aren’t left spectating in long matches and make LT more worthwhile for those who are in it to earn units/EXP.
I could see this being one of those new game type mutators that are currently only supported for Game Worlds. Maybe they could do it with that? Have and definitely keep the current modes, but add this mode you are proposing as a gameplay mutator.
At the very least, it’s a bit slower than SDNL, and I honestly appreciate it for that - Though, being honest, I still prefer Virus over SDNL or Laser Tag myself.
There were a few game modes for Laser Tag that was planned long ago, but I’ve been unable to find time to spend more time on Laser Tag. I think bases are a very common theme to laser tag and I would like to add it. I just need to find time to do it. I’m thinking after the Halloween would be a good time for it.
