Bringing back Global Chat was a mistake. This community is cringe and Global Chat makes all the cringo players even cringier than they normally are.

I agree, bringing global chat back was a mistake.

Global chat is moderated and we handle reports quite frequently, so please use the report system if you see anything in global that doesn’t seem appropriate.
Global chat at its core helps players talk between all the different servers and condos, and also shows notifications when games start which have been very helpful.
Most of the time global chat is pretty chill, so don’t let a few bad experiences with people (who will ultimately get banned) get in the way of the chat’s use.
You can also block or ignore people if you don’t want to see their chat messages anymore. And, you can also disable Global Chat in the settings.

i mean if you aren’t blocking/reporting and keep global chat enabled then it kind of sounds like you are complaining just to complain

Global chat isn’t any less weird than a plaza chat with a high player count. I feel like there’s more to gain from global chat than there is to lose, because people are capable of being genuine on there. If people are being awful otherwise? Well, just report them like everyone else said. Reporting players for rulebreaks over global chat is far easier than some other things that are reportable, like needing to record a video for those breaking rules via voicechat.

my only issue with global chat is that some people use it while others use local at the same time so when i am chatting with multiple people i always end up missing half of the convo cause i constantly have to switch tabs

After opening chat and before typing your message, you can press Tab to switch between global and local chat. Nothing ever tells you this, but I learned that this was a thing while I was thinking “there’s gotta be a quicker way to switch between tabs” and surely enough, that was a feature. Hopefully that makes it easier.

While I strongly disagree with removing Global Chat entirely, I do think the devs need to make Local Chat the default channel that’s selected when you’re in the Plaza.
This is purely because it is extremely common for people to be having a local conversation in the Plaza, usually responding to someone who’s voice chatting, but the ones responding with text are using the default Global channel.
We end up with many different random fractions of conversations going into Global that don’t make any sense for the rest of us, and it causes Global Chat to feel much more chaotic and confusing.
