Audio Fall-off for media players

This is already something the player at the nightclub does. When you enter the nightclub, the audio gets quieter when you are near the entrance.

Don’t you hate it when you have a media player and it just its full volume no matter where you are? It would be cool if you can apply sound emitter properties like range and wall softening. It would make the game feel more realistic
Since Mac is now implementing a media volume, so a TV, radio or media object activated when you are inside, this suggestion seems like a good idea.

As media is piped in via Chromium Embedded Framework, this is easier said than done

All media players are is glorified web browsers

A possible solution would be to have a type of IO called “Media Audio Origin”, that you place somewhere near each media player that requires it and has a persistent connection

Makes enough sense. As long as it works, I think everyone would be satisfied.

Okay so it’s a thing in a web browser. So what? The nightclub gets the basics right at least, you go farther away and the volume is quieter. You’re making it seem like this is some very hard to code stuff. (which it might seem intimidating since, you know, ONE PROGRAMMER!)

This “media audio origin” does seem like a cool idea separate from this. Like you can have a TV at the beach in Condo and you’re at the entrance and you can hear it from over there or something, but kinda redundant compared to what I posted tbh.

Plus, you can’t turn down individual media players if you have multiple on,as It is just the ONE slider for EACH playing player.
When not looking at a media player, the STOP WATCHING button doesn’t do anything, doesn’t turn off any media player thats playing, so that means you have to PLACE YOUR CHARACTER AND PRESS E on each of the media players you’ve turned on individually and seperatly

Would be cool you can name media players (which you can via item finder) and then they each have a seperate slider.
OR to partially remedy the point above, audio-fall off.

I don’t think the game currently has a means of distinguishing which Chromium instance is active and which media player it is tied to

It is likely that the nightclub media player is either a hard coded or persistent instance

I am not a developer so I can not comment further on the technical nitty gritty on what is going on behind the scenes

You’re right at this point the entire media system should be reworked at some point. The framerate drops when you have a media player on probably BECAUSE the chromium stuff
The media volume is a start.

I’m glad others agree. If media player system rework ever takes place, it will be an major, but oh so useful change for both regular people and Condo builders as well.

I would love this feature to be a thing.
