Anti-Harassment Features

I don’t know if this has been brought up before, but we need features to prevent harassment towards other players. There are far too many instances of players bullying others by hitting people or shooting them unprovoked. We need either a feature that makes us invisible or for weapons to be only usable in condos. Blocking people will only temporarily fix the issue until another person comes and starts the cycle over again.

Could you clarify with an example? You could just block those people again.

If you don’t want to be seen by others, join an empty plaza.

hmm… what kind of features do you have in the mind?

Additional moderation tools to deal with bad behavior would be nice to have especially with dedicated condos planned in future- so here’s some of my ideas!

  • A way to mute someone’s voice chat and text chat in their condo via players list
  • Blacklist for certain words and people could get kicked for saying specific words
  • Blocked people shouldn’t be able to enter the condos
  • A option to ban them from condo without needing to block them or their steam profiles
  • A option to disable text chat with location volume

For now, you can use [location volumes] and disable weapons and voice chat; you could also check players list, pick a player and “Bring” them to you; you could have a prison with disabled features using location volume in there.

In addition- In your Condo, you can hold [tab] key to bring up Condo setting and turn anything off you don’t want

Blocking only helps so much. you can block someone and someone different will come afterwards and do the same thing.

*Passive Mode.
*A karma/punishment system for players who attack other unprovoked.
*Things like that.
*Or just flat out disable the ability to attack others.

Passive mode is called PVP off.

Karma/Punishment would be really shitty for PVPers, the first attacker would lose karma every fight.
People still like fighting in plaza. Removing it would only cause people to complain.

I don’t like fighting in the plaza. It gets so annoying when you get surrounded by idiots who spam fireworks and shoot each other and then they attack you for nothing. Passive mode in GTA V is better since it makes you invisible to other players until you turn it off. (Like passive mode is supposed to work.)

Does people using fireworks annoy you that much?

You being invisible wouldn’t stop them from spamming fireworks.

Karma/punishment system does not fit into Tower Unite. I’m heavily against this.

It would, if they wouldn’t see you, your name tag or your location on the player list. In addition to that, they wouldn’t see your messages and the fireworks wouldn’t have collision with the hidden player. I think this would be a perfect approach to what was already suggested for a passive mode, which, by the way, I fully agree with that the game needs. And yes, some people, myself included, also hate this, and would rather not see it so often, especially targeted at us. I don’t think it’s a big ask to let people have options for playing with randoms, friends or family members in more peace.

people spam fireworks even if they don’t see anyone. if you are near any group of people.

I would guess that might be because they are or just want to be annoying. But in that case, just add an option to disable firework effects client-side in addition to everything else and voila.

It seems that OP is annoyed by not just fireworks, but any attacking. Even people fighting each other around them. Being invisible would not stop those players from attacking, and such would not help.

The only solution to that is to either go to an emptier plaza, or block those people so you can’t see them.

And sure, it’d be nice to disable fireworks clientside. I assumed it was an option, since the colorful lights being all over on your screen could be problematic to those with epilepsy.

Well yeah, you won’t stop the actual fights, but you can keep yourself away from them. There were already plenty of possible, potential solutions proposed for this.

At the end of the day, I just move on and let them get on with their “fighting” or whatever they’re doing. However, if they started harassing me, I’d simply equip and use the Stealth Box, they soon go away then. If that doesn’t work (have the radar milestone equipped), and they still were harassing me, then I’d just go onto another server. I’d only end up reporting them if they were following me from server to server.
Getting worked up over internet strangers “fighting”, be it with the firework launcher, chainsaw, or any sort of item/weapon is not worth it whatsoever.

The last time I played Tower Unite, there were groups of annoying players who spammed their microphones by playing loud music. I dislike it when a player blasts loud music through their microphone while trying to chase me and circling around me for no reason. It’s truly annoying.

I saw an episode where Johnny Test gains weight, a talking dog who warns him about “karma,” gets a job as a rapper, and accumulates a ton of video games, yet never receives divine karma.

The Karma system (since TTT in GMod) could be used against RDM. But by far, the biggest harassment in all FPS games must be a group of trolls randomly spamming kick votes against skilled players.

Personally, the vote kick system has become a major issue in most FPS games. Since Tower Unite removed the abusive vote kick system, I doubt that the karma system would protect good players rather than toxic ones.

Team Fortress 2, the Left 4 Dead series, Roblox, to name a few, all have a vote kick system that often leads to toxic players abusing it to kick skilled players, as I’ve seen in YouTube videos.

You can mute and block people like that.

Yea, I was using Bing Translator to formal my English writing, completely remove my writing of what you said.

This is why I have the Stealth Box equipped (you get it from the Arcade for about 20k tickets IIRC) - if someone starts trying to harass me, then I simply use it and then they more or less clear off. As for players blasting music through their mics, just simply mute them. Job done!
Again, like I said in my previous post, it’s not worth getting worked up with internet strangers when you can use simple tricks like the Stealth Box.
