Allow subtitle settings for media players

YouTube often has multiple and varying options for subtitles which are inaccessible in game, from user made subtitles to auto generated, as well as the auto translation feature. I believe this would be a great accessibility setting as well as allowing users who speak different languages to share content amongst each other.

Provided they are able to be requested through YouTube’s API.

Unfortunately requesting them from their API will add another API call, which costs money each time sadly.

Man, it’s been 2 years since this topic was started, and I can’t stop thinking about it… I kind of wanna bring it back, because I still think something like this would be greatly useful so, some ideas: Maybe you guys could generate your own subtitles in some way and display them over media players videos or on-screen, kinda like subtitles work in Source 1 from Valve? The whole dialog box NPCs use could also be potentially repurposed for that in some way. These are just ideas though - I don’t know if any of this would have had been worth it, technically feasible or anything, but I do think it’s still worth giving subtitle system more consideration - The lack of subtitles for media players is one of major reasons for why I don’t watch videos with anyone in Tower, whether in public or in private, so that’s why I hope for further talks on this topic.
