Add Steam Rich Presence support

Do you ever log into Steam and see that 4 of your friends are playing Tower Unite, and you want to join them but you are curious about what they are playing? With Steam Rich Presence, you can find out easily.

Garry’s Mod recently added it in their February 2019 update. A photo from their blog shows that this user is playing Sandbox on ep2_outlands_12

This feature will allow players to quickly join their friends, while also boosting minigame interaction. I feel this should be a higher priority than Discord Presence, as anyone that owns the game can see their friends versus the limited number of Discord users.

This feature could also work for Plaza.

“EX. StaticPixel
Tower Unite Lobby - Plaza (Casino)” or something of the like.

or even Virus

"EX. StaticPixel
Tower Unite Virus - Hospital (round 6)

Examples of the data that Rich Presence supports:

  • Time remaining

  • Time passed

  • Players still alive

  • Map or Zone name

  • Player level

  • Player Class

  • Game score

  • Difficulty

  • Game mode type

  • Spots open on the server

  • Action being taken (deck building, roster changing, on main menu etc.)

Players playing on the same Virus, or Plaza server also can be combined in the friend’s list view.

Here’s link to the published API.

I’m in favor of this, but before even this is added, we need a simple “Join” button so that you don’t have to join through the Steam overlay. There’s already an Invite and Chat button, so no sense in there not being a basic join button.

Definitely. I love Rich Presence and would love to see it added to TU.

Discord rich presence would be rad too.

If you decide to add this, please follow this guide: https://discordapp.com/developers/docs/rich-presence/best-practices

I feel like too many game developers use rich presence wrong when it can be so pretty and informative.
