How does the idea sound: Real canvases. Like, you know, you actually draw something on a canvas and then hang it on a wall. So how about canvases like such on which you can draw something in an MS Paint fashion to show off your wonderful drawing and sketching skills?

You could always draw on ms paint and put that on the canvas, basically the same thing.
Well, you could always copy paste a frame into your picture with GIMP, Paint, Paint.net, Photoshop. Adobe After Effects and so on.
Although the ability to simply place a frame prop would be much faster and easier, if a little bit boring.
